❄️ Winter is here! ❄️ As we are transitioning into winter weather, remember to plan ahead for potential delays. Poor driving conditions can lengthen delivery days. The influx of packages and increase in the number of stops during peak season cause even more delays and stress for delivery businesses. Play it smart, plan resources and schedule routes accordingly. And emphasize the importance of safe driving during this time of the year as speeding is a major factor in one-third of all fatal crashes.

November 23

Happy Thanksgiving! We’re grateful for a lot of things here at GroundCloud, but we’re most grateful for amazing customers like you. Enjoy a holiday filled with family, friends, food, and gratitude. 🦃🍗

Please remember that the night before Thanksgiving is known as the biggest bar night of the year and has the highest number of drunk accidents. Stay safe and be aware of any drunk drivers that may be on the road.

👻 GroundCloud wishes you a Happy Halloween! 👻

Stay safe, have fun, and enjoy the season’s spookiest holiday! 🎃

This is a reminder from GroundCloud to stay vigilant this Halloween. You never know what frights await you during spooky season… 👀

October 26
In general, being greeted by a dog is an added perk of being a delivery driver but oftentimes this comes with great uncertainty.

A driver’s safety is more important than any package. It is delivery business owners’ and managers’ utmost priority to provide their drivers with the training and tools necessary to keep them and those around them safe.

You might have heard about the recent tragedy involving the death of an Amazon delivery driver presumably caused by two dogs. GroundCloud offers many supplemental training courses and one of them, “Health Safety – Dog Bites”, specifically addresses such dangers and how to avoid them. You can find these courses and assign them to drivers in the Supplemental Training tab of the manager portal.

GroundCloud’s Ongoing Safety Training program covers more than just how to be a safe driver on the road. It is important for delivery professionals to be aware of and always remember about the many other potential dangers that come with the job. Among other skills, we coach delivery drivers in personal security such as how to respond when encountering dogs, dealing with confrontation, and other emergency situations (e.g. robbery, etc).

Please ensure your drivers are up to date with their safety training. This can be checked in GroundCloud.io under the Ongoing Certification tab. You can see which drivers have completed their training and resend the training to drivers that may have missed them.

In the delivery business, safety comes first.

Congratulations to Saul Lerma for being awarded the FedEx Entrepreneur of the Year (EOY), again! It’s his third EOY nomination (2014, 2016, 2022).

We are proud to have Saul as a Lead Trainer in our Qualification Certification program. He has been operating as a FXG contractor for 20+ years and chose the GroundCloud fleet management portal for his company Lerma Transport Inc.

Almost ALL of the EOY candidates who recently attended the annual EOY meeting were the GroundCloud QualCert program participants at some point in the past. Kudos to our Safety training team for helping CSPs not only grow their business but also teaching them how to do it safely!

What is P&D Safety Certification?

The P&D Safety Certification is an online training course designed for new drivers. This 10-chapter course covers all the basic driving guidelines to be a safe and effective CMV (Commercial Motor Vehicle) operator. This course is not required, however, we recommend all new drivers take this course before they begin driving. The course covers drivers for the first 30 days of employment for Ongoing Safety Training (OST) compliance in case any sort of incident or accident occurs.

(No Road Course work or Live Route Training is required for this course)

Please note: this course does NOT replace the required Pre-Class 2 & 3 Day Driver Training Course, the Existing Driver 2-Day Final Exam or the New Driver 3-Day Final Exam.

A driver can be enrolled in the P&D Safety Certification when creating a new driver profile. Before pressing submit on the new driver profile, check that it says “Yes” under “Enroll driver in P&D Safety Certification training.” A driver can also be enrolled under the Training Courses tab by selecting +Enroll Driver.

We love receiving feedback from our customers. If If you want to share your feedback with us, please email us at feedback@groundcloud.com. Here’s some feedback we received from Bruce Bergman, who completed our TTT training in April.

“I wanted to take a moment and let you know what a great job Nick did in our TTT training. I was in the April 4 through 8 class in Sumner, Washington.

Nick was very knowledgeable and made the training not only a great learning experience, but actually interesting and entertaining. The materials are well prepared and Nick, again, did a great job ensuring we were ready to teach in the classroom, on the range, and on the road. Keeping the class interesting and moving along with a bunch of experienced drivers is truly a challenge and Nick was well up to it.”

Regards,

Bruce Bergman

Our Lead Trainer Carrie Gonzalez received some great feedback from some recent course attendees! Here’s what Carrie had to say about some of her students:

“Just wanted to pass along how happy these guys are about getting trained. I can’t tell you how many LONG-TIME drivers (20+ years of FedEx experience) are saying ‘Wow, this is really helpful! I’m glad someone wrote this curriculum!’ after the class.

On the far left in this pic is Juanito Valenzuelo. He’s had 20+ years at FedEx as a driver/AO, and his reaction at the end of class was probably my favorite of all time. Right after we took this picture, he yelled ‘Let’s go! I’m a professional now!’ Made my day.

July 13

Here’s what Anthony Centrella from KT Glow Inc. had to say about our 5-day Train-the-Trainer course.

“I just completed the 5-day train-the-trainer course with GroundCloud. Going into this class I thought it’d be a drag, boring, lecturing safety class of stuff I already knew. But after spending these 5 days with Evan, a GroundCloud trainer, I feel 100% comfortable saying that without this class, the safety message I would’ve tried to teach would’ve been lacking in every single area. Because of him, I feel confident in teaching, speaking and, most of all, moving forward as a reliable, efficient, and completely certified trainer to set a new standard of safety at my company.”

Thank you for sharing your feedback, Anthony, and kudos to our Lead Trainer Evan for the amazing review!
